Urology

Urology

The Unit is staffed by physicians and surgeons specializing in urology.

It provides diagnosis and treatment of

  • Diseases of the female and male urinary tract
  • Diseases of the male reproductive system

With support from the hospital's diagnostics and testing service and the other departments concerned, including medical imaging, nuclear medicine, laboratory, endoscopy, lithotripsy, medically assisted procreation, medical oncology and radiotherapy.

It also handles urological emergencies 24/7, in coordination with the hospital's Emergency Department.

Members of the Urology Unit work on a day-to-day basis with many other specialists from JJIMS, including cardiologists, diabetologists, neurologists, internists, gynecologists, ophthalmologists and intensivists, to ensure comprehensive and multi-disciplinary patient care.

The Urology Unit offers consultations by appointment within the Outpatient Department.

The department provides treatment of all diseases affecting the male and female urinary tract and the male reproductive system, including:

  • Infectious diseases of the genitourinary system
  • Andrology: male infertility and erectile dysfunction
  • Urinary disorders and urinary incontinence
  • Lithiasic disorders (urinary stones)

During consultations, our urologists place strong emphasis on informing patients and promoting prevention (prevention of urological cancers, urinary stones, urinary infections, etc.).

OPEN AND MINIMALLY EVASIVE SURGERIES

Our urological surgeons use leading edge surgical techniques, including:

  • Conventional "open" surgery
  • Endoscopic surgery (prostate adenoma, bladder tumor, narrowing of the urethra, urinary stones), sometimes coupled with laser techniques
  • Laparoscopic surgery combined with robotic assistance (prostatectomy or partial nephrectomy to treat cancer, prolapse surgery)
  • Minimally invasive surgery (in particular vaginal tapes for urinary incontinence)
